Imagine having a friendship with someone and every text they sent, you didn’t read, you didn’t respond, you ignored. Imagine if they committed the ultimate friendship sin and left you on “R”?! How long would that friendship last? Would you grow closer? Would you know anything at all about that person? Absolutely not! You are always communicating with your friends. Through texts, D.M., Snapchat streaks, comments on their pictures, and so many other ways! These are forms of connecting with each other, and the more you do so the closer you become. This is how your friendships are solidified…through communication. Your parents became closer through communication, your favorite teacher became a favorite through communication, and even your favorite musician communicates to you in one form or another through “feels” or upbeat music that gets you in the mood to face the day. Communication to establish a connection is one of the most important parts of Christianity!

The Bible says that all scripture is God-breathed, which means this is His form of communication to His people. If God had texts He would be texting you things like “no weapon formed against you will prosper”, “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you”, “I love you”, “I believe in you”, and other incredible things to encourage you, to communicate with you how to keep strong and on this path. However, He doesn’t have text, He doesn’t have social media, He simply has His word and that has always been His form of communication to you to connect with you and have a deeper relationship with you.

The word of God is alive and active and still working in lives today, including yours. As a matter of fact, even Jesus used the Word of God against the devil when He was tempted in the desert. Check it out on your own in Matthew 4! Jesus keeps saying, “It is written” He does this because He is quoting scripture! The Word of God is hidden in His heart, as it should be in yours. As a believer in Christ, you will need to establish or re-establish this communication with God so that you can be encouraged so that you can use the Word as a weapon against the enemy, and so that you can fall deeper in love with Jesus as He communicates with you.

My Pray: Pray that you experience the Bible as God’s way to communicate with you and as a story that Jesus wants to tell you. Try and listen to what Jesus is telling you through His word and whatever you do…Don’t leave Jesus on red!

Pray: Father, forgive me for leaving you in the “R”. I want to communicate to you more and have a strong connection with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
